Hypochondria: Exaggerated Fear of Disease
What is hypochondria
Hypochondria is a morbid condition characterized by the simulation of symptoms of one or more diseases. The hypochondriac, convinced that it has a serious disease, can suffer acutely, not only the symptoms of the supposed disease, but also anxiety and depression.
The symptoms are not under voluntary control, nor does the patient know the possible benefits derived from the symptoms.
Psychiatrists and physicians also recognize that congenital hypersensitivity may be a predisposing factor for hypochondria.
